Book Clubs for All – My Southborough

Above: Here are some of the options for joining the book clubs meeting this fall.

The Southborough Library and Seniors Center is launching special book clubs and reading programs this fall – some as early as next week.

There is a group of books for just about every age/reading level. Options even include a Reading Buddies program to pair beginning readers with teens.

[Note: For tots too young to read, the Library’s story times will resume later this month. You can find that schedule here.]

Below are details of the book clubs and programs promoted so far. Unless otherwise stated, groups are hosted by and at the Southborough Library.

Please register or contact library staff in advance to register. (Some of these may fill out and others may require prior coordination.)

Cooking Book Club all ages

(This one isn’t new and has been meeting over the summer.) You can think of it more like a cooking club than a book club, but attendees focus on one book to explore each month.

Those interested in cooking and trying new dishes are encouraged to choose a recipe from the monthly cookbook selection to cook and bring to the library to share with other attendees. Please send your pre-selected dish to Marianna at [email protected]

Meets the first Tuesday of each month from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. upstairs:

Reading buddiesBeginner and teenage readers (volunteers needed)

Beginning readers looking for an attentive listener and teens interested in helping young patrons gain confidence in their reading skills are welcome to the library’s Reading Buddies program.

Readers can bring a book from home or borrow one from the library. Registrations are compulsory. Young readers and volunteers, please email [email protected] if interested.

Teenage volunteers are wanted. Space is limited, so please email Marianna at [email protected] to register today. Participants must register in advance so that Reading Buddies can be matched.

From September 15 to October 20, weekly meetings on Thursdays from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the rooms for children and adolescents

[Note: The Read to a Dog program for young readers will also continue this fall. Find those details here.]
