February 25 – Sexual charges against former Madison Twp. The fire chief was sent to a grand jury in Butler County by Judge James Sherron of Middletown City Court.
Ronald E. Miller, 69, of Preble County Line Road in Madison Township, is charged with two counts of rape and four counts of aggravated sex imposition involving three girls aged 5 to 14 at the time of the alleged crimes, according to court records.
The rapes were allegedly committed around 30 years ago against one of the victims, according to officials and documents.
At Miller’s preliminary hearing Wednesday afternoon in Middletown City Court, Butler County Sheriff’s Detective Janee Lambert was the only witness. She told the court she interviewed Miller on February 13, two days after her office became aware of the alleged gross sex impositions.
She said Miller, who hasn’t worked for the fire department for 20 years, confessed that he made two young girls masturbate him in the woods near his home. The girls are expected to be interviewed on Thursday, Lambert said.
Another woman, now in her early 40s, told a relative in a text message that Miller raped her when she was 13. Lambert said Miller said he waited until the girl was 13 for her to “figure out” what was going on. The rapes allegedly took place at the Miller residence, according to court documents.
Miller’s attorney, Chris Pagan, asked Lambert if the BCSO was serving search warrants. She said Miller’s cell phone and computer were confiscated and his home searched. She said the investigation was ongoing dateblocker.
Miller’s bond remained at $ 380,000, and he was ordered to have no contact with any of the alleged victims.
