In collaboration with the estate of Jean-Michel Basquiat, Converse is releasing a collection of sneakers inspired by the graffiti of the late artist. The range consists of two high-top kicks and a pair of low-tops integrated into the famous works of Basquiat.
The range consists of three silhouettes: the Skidgrip, the Chuck 70 and the Chuck Taylor All Star. The Skidgrip comes in a low design made with black polyester on the upper, which is splashed with vibrant graffiti patterns. Basquiat Kings of Egypt II artwork appears on the sides, while its name is embossed on the tongue and heel. The pair is completed with chunky off-white soles.
The Chuck 70 and Chuck Taylor All Star are also made with polyester on the upper. The first has details of Kings of Egypt III with white embroidered lines. The suede Converse logo and all-black lettering on the heel highlight the shoe. Additionally, the Chuck Taylor All Star is printed with Basquiat’s Pez Distributor design in bright colors. The tongue is imprinted with the artist’s name while the heel is stamped with an All Star logo.
Take a closer look at the design above. The Converse x Basquiat collection will be available via HBX on October 1.
