Do you remember the movie premieres? On Friday night, Emilia Clarke attended the premiere of Billie Piper’s new movie, Rare beasts, in London. On the would have been socially distanced red carpet, Clarke wore a stunning floor-length sheer polka dot dress with a mock turtleneck. She paired the look with bright red heels.
She was joined on the mat by Doctor Who actress Jenna Coleman.
In one exam for The Guardian, Peter Bradshaw writes that Piper’s new film is a new kind of romantic comedy.
“The film screams when it has to appease; where the heroine must find love, she finds absence; where she should show her feminist solidarity, she admits that she still needs a man; where there should be closure, there is nothing. The last time I saw something as dark as this Samuel Beckett Festival in Enniskillen. It’s not an easy watch, but Piper’s fierce, focused intelligence of filmmaking is exhilarating.
Piper shared with UK publication Metro the motivation behind his very different genre of film:
“There’s this message that you can have it all and do it all and that it’s not enough to just get through your working day – you have to be really successful and brilliant too,” she says.
She added, “I guess I accept male oppression. I know a lot of it, even in its most passive form. I examine that now I am a woman in her thirties who has lived and worked in what is a man’s world for so long.
