Glasgow brides race for bargains as all-new £ 1,000 wedding dress designer arrives at Oxfam charity shop for £ 300

GLASGOW brides have the chance to get a bargain on their big day with all new designer dresses on sale at a charity store.

Oxfam’s Newton Mearns store has received 50 designer wedding dresses worth around £ 1,000 each – and is selling them for just £ 300.

Hamilton-based Generous Bijoux Bridal donated stunning ex-showroom dresses from designers such as Phil Collins and Victoria Jane last week.

And there are plenty of styles on offer, with sizes ranging from 8 to 18 as well.

The Oxfam Boutique store team is now offering brides the full bridal store experience, with after-hours appointments to give them and their loved ones exclusive use of the store.


“We skimped on our wedding to buy a house, we had three guests, my dress cost £ 20 and we had strangers take the pictures”


Janice Despard, Head of Oxfam Newton Mearns Store, said: “It has been a very difficult time for people planning weddings during the pandemic, but the enormous generosity of Bridal Jewelry has enabled us to donate a bit of light to people looking for a designer dress at a reduced price. .

“Of course the best thing about buying your wedding dress from Oxfam is that the money raised can help stop the spread of the coronavirus in some of the poorest countries in the world by giving people simple things. such as access to soap and clean water.

“Just another reason to feel good in your dress on D-Day!”
