Hasbrouck Heights Library has new opening hours and activities in June

HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, NJ – The Hasbrouck Heights Free Public Library continued to be open for in-person appointments. In accordance with New Jersey state guidelines, the wearing of a mask is now optional for vaccinated people. Due to the nature of the installation as part of Borough Hall, the public must use the Madison Avenue entrance for the library. Door-to-door pickup continues to be offered.

The new library hours are as follows – for door-to-door and in-person appointments:

  • Monday, Thursday and Friday – 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Tuesday and Wednesday – 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Saturdays – 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
  • Internal navigation and computer use are extended to 1 hour.

Going forward, starting July 1, the library will be open Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The public is invited to return the documents from the library to our book box. It is located at the back of the municipal building near the entrance. We will no longer quarantine material prior to item registration.

Summer reading is fast approaching! This year’s program, Tails and tales, begins Monday June 21 and ends Sunday August 29. All recordings for children, adolescents and adults will be done online at http://hhlibrary.readsquared.com. Visit the site to register and more details. We have another exciting summer planned which includes themed competitions, programs and crafts for all ages.

Let us help you with your reading list! Bundle Up is a specially curated book recommendation service available for all ages. Fill out a form based on your age range, and we’ll give you your next favorite reading! Each bundle will include three options.

Our Movie Night (at Home) promotion continues throughout the month. Borrow 5 Hasbrouck Heights-owned DVDs from our Adult or Juvenile Collection using door-to-door or in-person navigation, and we’ll provide you with a bag of microwave popcorn!

Little Artists Grab & Go @ Doorside: Thank You Crafts for Teachers

Friday June 11 and Saturday June 12

Let’s say thank you to our teachers for working so hard this year with a complete craft-in-a-bag that you can create and gift to them. Available for pickup during library hours on Friday and Saturday. Ideal for grades K-4.

TAILS & TALES Launch of summer reading: let’s draw animals!

Monday June 21 at 3:30 p.m.

Join award-winning cartoonist Rick Stromoski and learn how to draw a variety of furry, hoofed and feathered friends in this fun and interactive program presented via Zoom.

TAILS & TALES Preschool Story Time LIVE via Facebook

Wednesday June 23 at 11 a.m.

Stories and songs on the library’s Facebook page featuring our furry and feathered friends from this summer’s reading theme. Registration is not required, just come join us.

Teen Craft-to-Go – Watermelon Squishy

Tuesday June 29 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. / 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

June’s Teen Craft is a watermelon squishy to relieve stress! Supplies will be available for afternoon and evening pickup and a tutorial will be posted on YouTube.

Student Transition Webinar Presented by Caregivers of NJ

Monday June 7 at 7:00 p.m.

This webinar will provide valuable information to better prepare people with disabilities and their families for the transition to adult life services. Topics will include the step-by-step transition process, Medicaid eligibility, coordinating support, choosing the right support coordinating agency, and much more!

Don’t get ripped off! NJ Consumer Affairs Questions & Answers

Tuesday June 29 at 7:00 p.m.

Presented by Melanie Hazim, Director of Outreach, Consumer Division. From the IRS phone scam, to lottery and lottery scams, to the so-called grandparents scam, it looks like impostor scams and other criminal scams are more active than ever – and are going after to potential victims in New Jersey through phone calls, emails and please join us as a representative from the New Jersey Consumer Division explains how to avoid getting ripped off.

Virtual craft club to share

Every 2nd and 4th Tuesday – June 8 and 22 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Come every Tuesday to discuss and work on a clever project! Have fun knowing other artisans in your community as you knit, crochet, embroider or craft anything! Virtual drop-ins will take place on the zoom.

Adult book club

4th Tuesday of each month – June 22 at 7:00 p.m.

Join us for a fun literary talk night! June’s book is “Before the Coffee Cools Down” by Toshikazu Kawaguchi. Pick it up at the door or use the Hoopla app to enjoy the eBook or eAudiobook on your smartphone or tablet.
