Monadnock Ledger-Transcript – Jaffrey Public Library Holds Book Clubs

The Jaffrey Public Library’s Curious Minds Book Club for ages 7-10 will meet on Zoom on Wednesday, January 19 at 4 p.m. and plans to resume in-person in February.

The January book is “Recordmania: the atlas of the incredible” by Alexandre Verhille. Copies will be provided for attendees to keep, along with a packet of activities to complete together during the Zoom chat.

My first book club for 4-6 year olds will resume in person at 38 Main Street on Wednesday, February 2 at 4 p.m. Participants can register and come to the library to pick up a copy to read at home before the discussion and activity at the library. This group will be limited to six children. Register here.

The Library’s Adult Gather Around a Book Online Book Discussion will focus on Mary Doria Russell’s “The Sparrow” on Tuesday, January 11 at 6:30 p.m. Kiki Berk will moderate the discussion.

The discussion on Tuesday, February 8 at 6:30 p.m. will focus on “Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge, and Plant Teachings” by Robin Wall Kimmerer, moderated by Damian Costello. Register here.

The book club will kick off Women’s History Month on Tuesday, February 28 at 2 p.m. with a discussion of “The Golden Suffragettes: The New York Socialists Who Fought for Women’s Suffrage” by Johanna Neuman, hosted by Liz Tentarelli.
