Olympic swimmer unveils Alief t-shirt at opening ceremony

Shawn Dingilius Wallace represents the country of Palau at its second Olympics, but he made sure to show Alief a little love at Friday’s opening ceremony in Tokyo.

Dingilius Wallace, one of three Palau athletes at the Tokyo Olympics, took a photo with an Alief t-shirt inside the Olympic Stadium during the ceremony.

The swimmer, who turns 27 at the Olympics on Monday, graduated from Alief Hastings in 2012.

Dingilius Wallace will compete in the 50-meter freestyle on July 30. He is his country’s most accomplished male swimmer, holding the Palau record in the 50 freestyle, 50 butterfly and 100 butterfly.

Dingilius Wallace set the country record in the 50 freestyle (26.78 seconds) at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio, but did not reach the semi-finals.
