Online book clubs to join

Unnamed Book Club has several chapters in cities like Atlanta, New York and Philadelphia. While he can’t meet in person, that hasn’t stopped the self-proclaimed “online/irl” book club from providing “peeps reading material.” Each month, two books are chosen that spotlight books by authors of color.

Reese’s Book Club is one of the most popular Instagram book clubs. Reese Witherspoon, who filmed in Atlanta and owns clothing and home goods store Draper James in Shops Around Lenox, hosts a book club on the platform. Each month, the Oscar-winning actress chooses a book she loves that focuses on women.

Podcasts also provide virtual playback links

Not your mom’s romantic book club features Ellen and her mother discussing romance novels in a weekly podcast. “It’s fun, it’s swooning, and it’s embarrassing,” the description read. Books have included “Rock Bottom Girl” by Lucy Score and “The Chocolate Thief” by Laura Florand.

black chick turned on is a book club focused on books written by and for black women. The bi-monthly podcast saw hosts DL and EM discuss tracks such as Zora Neale Hurston’s “Their Eyes Were Watching God” and Angie Thomas’ “The Hate U Give”. The podcast is also on Twitter.
