New photos show the amenity spaces in Jean Nouvel’s 53W53, a 1,050-foot residential supertall at 53 West 53rd Street in Midtown. The skyscraper is located between Fifth and Sixth Avenue and overlooks the Museum of Modern Art.
Spanning the entire 12th floor, the amenity spaces are minimally decorated and incorporate a mix of vibrant greenery, warm earth tones, and simple elements that aim to create a Midtown respite. Facilities include a fitness center with a separate yoga studio, a 65-foot-long swimming pool partially framed by a huge living wall, a squash court, several saunas and treatment rooms, and a golf simulator. Special programming will be organized by the wellness experts at The Wright Fit.
The building’s diagrid structural system provides each of the amenity spaces, especially the fitness center, a unique setting for the views beyond. The property also offers a wine cellar, private library and 24-hour concierge service.
Nouvel, winner of the Pritzker Prize, worked with renowned architects SLCE Architects and Adamson Associates to complete the building. Thierry Despont’s office oversaw the interior decoration. The building was developed in collaboration by Pontiac Land and Hines of Singapore.
The residential component includes 145 condominiums that range from studios to full-story homes and duplex penthouses. Sales are currently underway with the latest premium residences listed at $ 64.7 million.
