BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – With prom season and wedding season here, many women will be looking for fancy dresses. But there are a few tips you should know before you shop.
The Better Business Bureau recommends shop early to account for shipping delays, be clear about your budget – including allowing for changes – and don’t pay for everything up front. Also, be sure to read the cancellation policies carefully. And if you do decide to rent a dress, do your homework and make sure it’s a reputable company. And be sure to order an extra size just in case. And if you are looking online, beware of counterfeit dresses, as many brands do not sell theirs online.
“This is most definitely a case where the buyer is suspicious. Also, a bait and switch case, because you think you’re getting a branded item and getting a knockoff. So, there are a lot of things to watch out for. Again, there are reputable companies doing this legitimately. You can get a nice dress to wear for this occasion and return it, but you have to do your due diligence, ”said Paula Fleming of the BBB.
Cat Viglienzoni spoke with Fleming about other tips to consider before you say ‘yes’ to the dress.
