Virtual tours of Santa Claus, book readings and performances

Since we might be a little more inclined to stay home with the emergency order in place, we’ve got a list of events you can do virtually!

12 Minutes Max is a live event with the Salt Lake Public Library that takes place Sundays at 2pm. 12 Minutes Max is a monthly experimental performance series, presented by the Salt Lake City Public Library, showcasing new and current works by local artists in many disciplines: dance, music, film, theater, writing, art of performance and love it. Each event includes three varied performances, with a short Q&A after each piece. Steven Stallings Cardenas will screen his recent film “Anoche”, which he calls “an ode to my abuelo who works tirelessly for his dreams”. Steven is an artist, musician and filmmaker now based in Portland, Oregon, graduated from BYU. There is also a modern dancer who presents her work and a musician

Next Wednesday, November 18 at 6 p.m., join the Kings English Bookshop where you can watch bestselling author Keir Graff in a presentation of his new novel for the average reader, The Tiny Mansion. This free virtual event will take place on Crowdcast. Purchase your copy of The Tiny Mansion at King’s English Bookshop and receive an autographed bookplate while supplies last. Attention young aspiring authors: three participants will be selected at random during the virtual event to receive a free review of up to 10 pages by Keir himself! As for The Tiny Mansion, it’s the adventure of a twelve-year-old teenager who has to endure a summer living off the grid with her family in a tiny house. Tracy Aviary Virtual little chick lessons run by Tracy Aviary educators and birds online for a fun morning designed for toddlers. They had one earlier this week, and they will have another one on Wednesday, November 18 at 10 a.m. You and your little ones can join Tracy Aviary Birds and Educators online. Virtual lessons will include a visit with one of their favorite feathered friends, a fun craft (to pick up or deliver), a movement activity, a song to sing along and a compelling story aligned with our age-appropriate themes . Classes are designed for children aged 2 to 5 to attend with their adult. They recommend that adults be close if not directly with the child. You can register to take courses in the full series or individually. Registration for each course includes two entrance tickets (one adult, one child) to visit Tracy Aviary at your convenience.

Virtual tours of Santa Claus! Hosted by Chat books, this is a 10 minute free experience that is the perfect safe and social way for your child to tell Santa about their Christmas list and get your Christmas card all in one! Chatbooks will provide all participants with a code so that they can print their photo with Santa Claus as a card. It’s a zoom call, it’s personal and a lot of fun.
